IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER:

March 14, 2014 was the last day for an elector currently registered by party to change party affiliation or become “Unaffiliated” by filing a signed form with the County Clerk for the Primary Election (May 20). (Sec. 34-411A, Idaho Code)

If you are planning to be out of the area on these dates or would prefer to vote absentee instead of at the polls and would like your ballot mailed to you, please complete an absentee ballot application and submit it to the Office of the County Clerk.  [You may sign up for all four election dates and a ballot will be sent to you if there is an election on that date and you are eligible to vote in that election based on your physical address]

In-person absentee voting started on April 4, 2014 and will end on May 16, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.  It is available at the Latah County Courthouse, Room 101, 522 S. Adams, Moscow, Idaho.

If you want a ballot mailed to you and are registered to vote at your current address, please be sure to submit the request no later than May 14, 2014.

Last day declaration of intent to be filed by a write-in candidate for the Primary Election (May 20) with the Secretary of State or County Clerk. This filing date is for federal, state, legislative, or county candidates. (Sec. 34-702A, Idaho Code)

April 25

Last day to pre-register to vote with the County Clerk until 5:00 p.m. for the Primary Election (May 20). Election Day Registration is available. (Sec. 34-408, Idaho Code)

April 26 - May 6

County Clerk to mail ballots for the May 20 election to voters in designated Mail Ballot Precincts. (Sec. 34-308, Idaho Code)

May 8

Last day for the County Clerk to receive written requests for the purpose of authorizing persons to act as watchers and challengers at the polling place for the May 20 election. (Sec. 34-304, Idaho Code)

May 14

Last day for an application for a mail-in absentee ballot to be received by the County Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. for the Primary Election (May 20). (Sec. 34-1002, Idaho Code)

May 16

Last day for in-person absentee voting until 5:00 p.m. for the Primary Election (May 20) at the absent elector’s polling place. (Sec. 34-1002, Idaho Code)

May 20

Last day to return absentee ballots to the County Clerk’s Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. for the Primary Election (May 20). (Sec. 34-1005, Idaho Code)

November 4, 2014 General Election

September 2

Last day for filing declarations of candidacy until 5:00 p.m. for candidates for the November 4 election with the clerk of the political subdivision. This filing is for political subdivision candidates. (Sec. 34-1404, Idaho Code)

September 5 (Changed March 22, 2013)

Last day for a political subdivision to supply wording and resolution to the County Clerk for a bond, levy, initiative, referendum, recall or any other ballot question ordered for the November 4 election. (Sec. 34-106, Idaho Code)

Last day for the clerk of the political subdivision to certify the nominees and any special questions placed by action of the governing board of the political subdivision for the November 4 election. (Sec. 34-1404, Idaho Code)

September 15

Last day for County Clerk to print absentee ballots for the General Election (November 4). (Secretary of State Directive)

September 19

Last day a partisan candidate may withdraw before the General Election (November 4). (Sec. 34-717, Idaho Code)

Absentee Ballots

Registering to Vote

  • Latah County Auditor's Office, room 101, Latah County Courthouse.
  • City Hall's in Bovill, Deary, Juliaetta, Kendrick, Genesee, Moscow, Potlatch and Troy.
  • Applications to register to vote are available at the Public Library, the DMV (located in the Eastside Marketplace).
  • To be able to vote in any election you must register to vote 30 days before the date of the election.**
  • Registration will be closed 30 days prior to any election.

Additional Instructions for:

** If you are not registered 30 days prior to an election, but can prove residency for 30 days, you can register and vote absentee or register and vote on election day.
