Public Safety Dispatcher

Office: Latah County Sheriff's Office

Salary Range: $13.35 to $18.39 per hour plus $0.75/Hour shift differential from 6PM to 6AM in addition to a generous benefit package.

Brief Description: Dispatch takes calls for service utilizing telephones, Telecommunication Devices for the Deaf and in person; immediately assessing the situation and determining the type, nature and scope of the emergency. Must quickly enter information into a Computer Aided Dispatch system and dispatch emergency personnel using fire, medical and law enforcement radio systems. Clerical duties as assigned.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent; must be 18 years of age or older. No misdemeanor convictions within the last 5 years or any felony convictions. Must have the ability to think clearly and take control in stressful/emergency situations utilizing knowledge and common sense. Must have good hearing and diction; computer typing skills at 40 WPM; excellent customer service; ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Willingness to work varied shifts and Holidays. Must pass written and practical examination. Successful candidate will be required to pass a background investigation.

BUILDING INSPECTOR - PLANS REVIEWER

Building Inspector I or II

Office: Latah County Planning and Building

Brief Description/Experience: The building inspector performs plan reviews and inspections on new construction to determine compliance with applicable building codes, ensures applicable county building and land use ordinances are being met, enforces the building code, does required paperwork, conducts code research necessary to enforce the regulations, and shall work with builders and the public. Position requires range of skills necessary to perform in a rural jurisdiction. High school diploma or equivalent required. One year's experience in building inspection, and certifications in ICC Building Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, and Plans Examiner preferred.
