Job Title: Secretary/ Driver’s License Examiner

Job Summary: Assists the Sheriff by performing a variety of administrative and clerical services and serves as Part-time Driver’s License Examiner.

Job Title: Latah County Public Defender

The Latah County Board of Commissioners is soliciting proposals from attorneys for the position of Latah County Public Defender for a two (2) year period commencing on October 1, 2015.

The Public Defender provides legal representation to indigent adult criminal defendants, juveniles petitioned pursuant to the Idaho Youth Corrections Act, respondents and/or children in Child Protective Act and termination of parental rights proceedings and respondents in voluntary hospitalization proceedings (including proceedings under the Children’s Mental Health Act). 

The Public Defender is an independent contractor of Latah County.  The successful applicant must be an attorney at law licensed to practice in the State of Idaho and must maintain an office in Latah County.  Additional information is available by contacting Kara Egan, Deputy Clerk of the BOCC at 208-883-7208.  Proposals must be submitted to the Latah County Board of Commissioners at the Latah County Courthouse, P.O. Job Title: Probation Officer Assistant

Latah County Probation & Youth Services is accepting applications for the position of Probation Officer Assistant.  This is a part-time intermittent position, 20 hours/month or more (depending on availability and schedules), $10.78/hour.

Job Description: The primary focus of this job is the supervision of adult and juvenile clients who are required to fulfill obligations to the community as directed by the court. The Probation Officer Assistant helps the Resource Officer and Probation Officers by transporting probation clients, supervising community service projects, administering urinalysis tests, supervising study table, and other various duties.

Qualifications: Must pass Criminal History Background and Sexual Offender Investigation; completed at least one year of college or have at least one year of experience working with adolescents; possess a valid driver’s license; excellent written and communication skills.

Job Title: Latah County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy

The Latah County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the positions of Detention Deputy. Successful applicants will be offered a position based upon current openings available.

Applicants must be 21 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must pass written test, physical agility test and oral interview. Successful applicants will undergo an extensive background investigation to include polygraph, psychological examination and medical examination. Successful applicants must be able to attain Idaho POST certification within 12 months of hire date or already have POST certification.

The positions are full-time and include a generous benefit package; medical, dental and optical insurance for employee as well as a portion for dependent coverage. Benefit package also includes PERSI retirement plan, vacation, sick leave, overtime/compensatory time as well as $1500 flat fringe per year. Patrol Deputy Salary range $35,088 to $48,612 per year, DOE. EOE/ADA; and Detention Deputy Salary range $31,824 to $43,872 per year, DOE. EOE/ADA.
