Office Description
The elected county Treasurer is responsible for keeping records of receipts and expenditures of county funds, including collection of special assessments, forest protection, water districts, fire districts, school districts, local improvement districts and yield tax on timber sales. The monies received are deposited in various accounts and invested. The treasurer collects prepaid mobile home taxes on trailers that are sold or moved. Acting as ex-officio tax collector, the Treasurer computes and mails out the tax notices and collects the taxes on all real property, personal property and mobile homes in the county. The monies collected from taxes are then allocated by the office to the taxing districts and to the county operating funds. The Treasurer also acts as Public Administrator for anyone who dies intestate and also acts as conservator when appointed by the Court.
