LCYAC is a county-wide resource that assesses, educates and provides Latah County youth with positive development opportunities.
The Council is represented by thirty diverse individuals representing cross sections of our county, meeting quarterly to address county-wide needs and programs.
LCYAC is newly funded by the Strategic Prevention Framework State Initiative Grant (SPF SIG) a federal grant program, administered by The Idaho Office of Drug Policy. Previous funding for LCYAC has been through a Drug - Free Communities Support Program Grant provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), which ended October 2015. We receive additional support funding from many sources including Latah County Board of County Commissioners, Latah County Youth Services, Elks National Foundation, and the kindness of many individuals in our county.
In addition to our Council we also assist and support three community task forces. Let's Get It Started (LGIS) is located in the Potlatch area, Safe and Successful Youth (SASY) is located in the Troy area, and Kendrick – Juliaetta and the 7 Ridges (KJ7R) is located in the Kendrick-Juliaetta area of Latah County.
The Latah County Youth Advocacy Council is youth families, and community organizations collaborating to reduce youth substance use in Latah County.
